Spurs Transfer News: Gareth Bale Signs For Real Madrid For £85 Million

Published July 7, 2014 by gossipzoo

Gareth Bale has joined Real Madrid in a world-transfer-record-breaking 85 million deal on a six-year contract, according to the BBC.

The move makes the 24-year-old the world’s costliest player and dwarfs the 80 million Madrid paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

Bale’s transfer to the Spanish giants brings to an end one of this summer’s more protracted of transfer sagas and the midfielder’s six-season stay at White Hart Lane, where he scored 42 Premier League goals in 146 appearances since 2007.

The deal for the Welshman was agreed just a day before the closure of the English transfer window, which slams shut at 23:00 BST on Monday night.

Bale will now link up with ex-Spurs teammate Luka Modric at the Bernabeu and will also play alongside Ronaldo in La Liga this season.

“I have had six very happy years at Tottenham but it’s the right time to say goodbye,” said the double PFA Player of the Year.

“We’ve had some special times together and I’ve loved every minute of it.”

The Wales international had been linked with a switch to the Spanish capital for the last three months and missed virtually all of Tottenham’s pre-season campaign, as well as the Londoner’s first three league games.

The former Southampton star will have a medical and then be presented to the Madrid fans at the Bernabeu at 12:00 BST on Monday before speaking at a media conference.

Bale added:

“I am not sure there is ever a good time to leave a club where I felt settled and was playing the best football of my career to date.

“I know many players talk of their desire to join the club of their boyhood dreams, but I can honestly say, this is my dream come true.

“Tottenham will always be in my heart and I’m sure this season will be a successful one for them.

“I am now looking forward to the next exciting chapter in my life, playing football for Real Madrid.”

After his side’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal on Sunday, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas remarked:

“Bale is a wonderful player. He is going to join Real Madrid so we wish him all the best.

“He left us with some great memories from last season.”

Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners To Make £38 Million Mesut Ozil Bid?

Published June 22, 2014 by gossipzoo

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering making a 38 million move for Real Madrid’s attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to the Sun.

The Gunners boss is under increasing pressure to spend big this summer and with just over a week left of the transfer window, has set his sights on the Germany international.

Wenger has missed out on a number of top targets so far such as Stevan Jovetic, Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez and Karim Benzema, but is prepared to splash the cash to land Ozil.

Arsenal are also interested in Ozil’s team-mate Angel Di Mairia, and while Madrid are prepared to enter talks over a deal, the Argentine isn’t willing to join the North Londoners.

Ozil, 24, was one of Real’s key players for two years but questions have since been raised over his Bernabeu future due to the expected arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham.

The Welshman would likely take Ozil’s spot in the Spanish capital, leaving the former Werder Bremen man out in the cold.

Meanwhile, Wenger, whose only signing so far this summer has been Yaya Sanago on a free from Auxerre, has accused the media of “brainwashing” fans into thinking there is a crisis at the Emirates.

Arsenal lost their opening Premier League game 3-1 at home to Aston Villa but responded by beating Fulham by the same scoreline at the weekend.

Liverpool Transfer News: Brendan Rodgers Wants Victor Moses On Loan?

Published June 22, 2014 by gossipzoo

Victor Moses

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is lining up a loan bid for unwanted Chelsea midfielder Victor Moses, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old former Wigan star has travelled to Manchester for his side’s clash with champions United tonight but is expected to be on the bench, and is free to leave Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea want a 2 million loan-fee for the Nigeria international, but Liverpool are hoping to land him on reduced terms, and are reluctant to match his 55,000-a-week wages in London.

However, the Reds are still confident a deal can be reached before next Tuesday’s transfer window deadline, and are hoping Rodgers’ long-standing relationship with Jose Mourinho will work in their favour.

Rodgers managed the Chelsea Academy and Chelsea Reserves between 2004-08, and worked closely with Mourinho during the Portuguese’s first stint as manager of the Blues.

Moses has been told Chelsea are unlikely to agree to his sale, but that he can leave for 12 months after his chances of breaking into the first team wavered this season.

The arrival of Willian from Russian outfit Anzhi is set to reduce the winger’s opportunities for playing time, while he has yet to make an appearance for Chelsea under Mourinho.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are hoping to land Juan Mata on loan. The Spain star also faces an uncertain future following Willian’s arrival.

Chelsea Transfer News: Wayne Rooney Has 48 Hours To Decide Future

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has given Wayne Rooney 48 hours to decide if he wants to leave Manchester United and move to Stamford Bridge, according to the BBC.

The Blues have been chasing the striker for much of the summer and have already failed with two bids, while United continue to insist the 27-year-old is not for sale.

Speaking after his side’s 0-0 draw with United last night, a game of which saw Chelsea play with no recognised striker, Mourinho said of the Rooney situation:

“One way or another he has to say ‘I want to leave’ or ‘I want to stay’.

“The person that started the story has to finish the story. For the good of everyone, it is time to finish the story.”

Mourinho seemed to suggest that Rooney himself was the catalyst for the on-going transfer saga, saying that the ex-Everton star “told someone very important in his career” that he wanted to leave.

It is likely that the Portuguese boss was referring to Sir Alex Ferguson, who claimed Rooney wanted to quit the club shortly before he retired as United manager.

That was back in May and, asked how much longer he was prepared to wait for the Rooney situation to come to a resolution, Mourinho replied: “Twenty-four hours, 48 hours.

“If you look at a manager like me, a club like us and the people who work at the club with me, we are not silly enough to try to get a player from a big club that doesn’t want to sell.

“We are not silly enough to try something if somebody didn’t start it.”

“After that, if he wants to leave he has to say – or if he has decided now he doesn’t want to leave any more then he has to say.”

Rooney was given a warm reception by both United and Chelsea fans during last night’s 0-0 draw at Old Trafford, with the home and away support both chanting his name.

And it remains to be seen which club he will be playing for come the closure of the transfer window a week today.

Newcastle Transfer News: Tom Ince £8 Million Bid?

Published May 25, 2014 by gossipzoo

tom ince

Newcastle United are in the hunt for Blackpool’s exciting young winger Tom Ince, according to the Mirror.

Manager Alan Pardew has finally been given the green light to sign players after a slow start in the transfer window this summer, with the Magpies on the verge of signing striker Bafetimbi Gomis from Lyon.

Now he wants Ince, but could face competition from Everton, while the 21-year-old recently turned down a move to Cardiff.

Pardew is lining up an 8 million move for the Blackpool and England U-21 international and, though that is understood to be more than the Magpies are willing to pay for the ex-Liverpool player, the fee is within their budget.

However, the North East club cannot afford the same sort of dalliance that has led to a relatively inert transfer window this summer, and Pardew must pull his finger out and persuade director of football Joe Kinnear to make a fast bid in order to avoid missing out on the midfielder to rivals.

New Everton manager Roberto Martinez is known to be a big fan of Ince, and tried to sign him for his former club Wigan Athletic last season.

And a move to Goodison Park could appeal to the starlet, as it is close to his home in Merseyside.

Ince is a graduate of Liverpool’s youth academy but made no appearances at senior level and was sold to Blackpool in 2011 after a brief loan spell at Notts County.

Since then, he has gone on to be named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year for 2012/13 and won the Football League Young Player of the Year Award last season, after scoring 18 league goals.

Ince was on target yesterday in Blackpool’s Championship opener against Doncaster, scoring in the Seasider’s 3-1 win.

Newcastle Transfer News: Magpies Will Sign Loic Remy Within 48 Hours?

Published May 24, 2014 by gossipzoo

loic remy

Newcastle United hope to have signed QPR striker Loic Remy within the next 48 hours, according to the Metro.

And the North East club’s new director of football Joe Kinnear revealed a deal for Aston Villa forward Darren Bent is also close to being struck.

When asked about the potentiality if signing Remy, who the Magpies made a failed attempt to sign in the January window, Kinnear said:

“Yeah I think very much, so I would like to think we are very, very close to agreeing that.

“I would think maybe Monday or Tuesday we will be a position to say yea or nay, but I am very happy about how that deal is going at the moment.”

The former Wimbledon boss also revealed the club are closing in on Bent, though they are likely to face stiff competition from newly-taken over Fulham, who have cash to spend this summer.

Kinnear admitted talks are on-going regarding the former Tottenham marksman, who appears to be surplus to requirement on Villa Park ahead of the new season.

“We were with Darren’s agent for two or three hours, we thrashed out a deal.

‘We are still in negotiations with Aston Villa so there is a really strong possibility there.”

Newcastle’s hopes of signing Bent appeared to be on the rocks last week after it was revealed the Magpies were only willing to pay 2 million for the 29-year-old, who was left feeling unimpressed with Kinnear and the club’s offer.

But it seems to have been revived now and Newcastle hope both he and Remy join the incoming Bafetimbi Gomis in the next few days, with Gomis set to join for 8 million from French side Lyon.

Chelsea Transfer News: £30 Million Wayne Rooney Bid Rejected

Published May 24, 2014 by gossipzoo

Wayne Rooney

Manchester United have rejected a near- 30 million offer from Chelsea for striker Wayne Rooney, according to The Sun.

It is now the second time the Premier League Champions have knocked back the Blues advances for the 27-year-old, having also rejected their opening bid of 24 million last month.

United continue to stand by their stance that the England international is not for sale, but Rooney could force through a move by handing in a written transfer request.

Chelsea’s latest bid was just shy of 30 million, according to the report, which is nowhere near the Red Devil’s 40 million valuation of the forward.

The Londoners don’t want to go that high for a player who turns 28 later this year, but this is unlikely to be the end of the saga with manager Jose Mourinho claiming Rooney is the club’s only transfer target this summer.

The Portuguese manager is even prepared to wait until the final day of the transfer window to get his man, which would set up a tense deadline day on September 2.

He knows a deal is unlikely to be sealed until after Chelsea meet United in the league on August 26 – a fixture that promises to be even more fiery than usual given the Blue’s on-going pursuit of Rooney.

But the so called “Special One” remains relaxed and is confident about the situation.

Rooney is expected to be named in David Moyes’ squad for tomorrow’s friendly against AIK in Stockholm, but it could be the last time we see the ex-Everton man in a United shirt.

The player believes it is in the best interests of both parties for him to be allowed to leave, and may hand in a second transfer request in three years to get his way.

The request could even be made by the end of the week, ahead of United’s clash with Sevilla for Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial on Friday.

Rooney had also been expected to feature in that game, though if he hands in a written request to leave he almost certainly won’t

A United source said:

“Wayne is still hell-bent on going this summer – he doesn’t see any way back at United.

“He has been patient so far, but he is ready to step things up now. Time is running out for him to get this situation resolved and Wayne knows it.”
