Curtis Stone on Hudson’s Refined Palate: ‘He’s a Good Eater!’

Curtis Stone Top Chef Masters Son Hudson

Curtis Stone‘s son Hudson is growing right up. Like most 20-month-olds, he’s walking, talking and playing. When it comes to eating, though, Hudson’s palate is rather refined for his age.

“He’s a good eater! We’ve introduced him to all kinds of food. His mum [Lindsay Price]’s a great cook, and she does just as much of the cooking as I do for him,” the Top Chef Masters host tells PEOPLE.

“There’s really nothing that he doesn’t love. He loves omelettes – anything with eggs in it. And all sorts of protein. He loves crab. He likes pasta, he likes lentils. He had a nice big steak the other night. You know, he’s chompin’ away, which is good to see.”

Stone also says that Hudson is a helper, whether it’s cooking breakfast in the kitchen or picking strawberries in the garden. But that doesn’t mean his dreams for Hudson are strictly in cuisine.

“Of course we all think we have the one genius child or the next football [star] – I think he’s going to be a soccer star,” the proud dad, 37, says. “Watching him kick a little ball around and learn and develop is just so beautiful.”

Also an author, Stone released his latest cookbook, What’s for Dinner?, in April and will be showing off some of his new recipes in Las Vegas this weekend at the Venetian and the Palazzo’s second annual Italian-themed Carnavale festival.

“I’m really focusing on the best of the seasons,” Stone says of the menu he’s prepared. “It’s comfort food but with a mix of sophistication.”

The chef won’t be traveling alone, though – Stone will be joined by his new wife, 36, and Hudson. As for what he’s most excited about by visiting Sin City, there are two things: First, “it’s actually really special just to be able to cook someone a beautiful dinner and come out and meet them and talk about it and all that sort of stuff,” he says.

But it’s not all work and no play for this family man. “We’re going to hit the pool and catch some sun. Have a couple of cocktails and relax a little.”

Kerri Walsh Jennings Poses Nude While Pregnant – and with Baby

Published June 19, 2014 by gossipzoo

When you compete on a worldwide stage in the skimpiest of bathing suits, how shy can you be?

For beach volleyball Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, the answer came crashingly clear just before her second of two nude photo shoots for ESPN The Magazine.

The first time she stripped down while pregnant; the second was a follow-up session posing in the altogether with her new baby last month, about nine weeks after giving birth.

“Driving there I was sweating bullets,” says Walsh Jennings, 34. “I was really, really nervous. I felt exposed, not just physically, but with all of my insecurities.”

The side-by-side results appear in the magazine’s fifth annual Body Issue, on newsstands Friday, along with nude photos of male and female athletes. The sports range from pro football to golf to tennis.

“When I was offered this opportunity it wasn’t an automatic yes. I had to think about it. I’m my parents’ daughter. I have my husband,” she said. “When I came down to it, I had the opportunity to do something uncomfortable. I think that’s an important part of life. It’s something new. I looked at it as a challenge.”

Walsh Jennings says she gained 36 lbs. on her 6 , 2″ frame while pregnant with her third child, daughter Scout Margery. She’s lost most of it, but is trying for 12 lbs. more.

“I have been working my butt off literally every single day,” she says, preparing for her first post-baby tournament in Switzerland later this month. “I’ve come a long way from April when I had my baby. But I’m definitely not where I would normally be going into my first tournament of the season.”

She’ll also have to adjust to competing without longtime partner Misty May-Treanor, who retired after the pair won their third gold at the London Olympics. After joining interim partner Whitney Pavlik in Switzerland and later in Long Beach, she’ll team with new partner April Ross.

Which means the next few weeks will bring one more temporary tinge of self-consciousness. “Before I get my tan,” she says, “I feel naked.”

Samantha Harris: Why I Write Journals for My Daughters

With her eldest daughter, 5 -year-old Josselyn Sydney, starting kindergarten in the fall, Samantha Harris is more aware than ever how quickly time is flying.

“It was just yesterday that she was a toddler like our little one,” Harris, also mom to Hillary Madison, 2 , tells PEOPLE. “I was just playing with these magnet dolls with [Hillary] and it’s so cute listening to her talk and how she phrases everything. I know that the cute little phrases she has today are going to be gone tomorrow. You have to cherish each of those moments.”

That realization is what led Harris to partner with P&G everyday, a one-stop website with simple tips on everything from cooking to beauty to helping moms spend less time getting things done, and more time being mom.

“It’s hard in our busy, busy life, especially as a working mom and as moms in general. It’s hard to take a breather and spend that quality time [with your kids], which is essential,” Harris, 39, says.

To chronicle those special moments in her own family’s lives, Harris and her husband, Michael Hess, write journals to their daughters, recalling funny stories, the day they happened and how old each girl was when the moment occurred.

“My goal is to keep those going until they turn 18 and – when each of them have their 18th birthday – present it to them,” she says, adding that the homemade quality of the journals is important to her.

“I think that there’s something to be said about having the ability to see your parents’ writing,” Harris says. “I lost my dad when I was 22 and he was just 50, and I realize truly how precious the time is, so anytime I come across a birthday card with his writing, I hold it dear.”

And how does Harris ensure the journals are filled with lasting memories? By taking Josselyn on special field trips.

“I called it Mommy Camp,” she says. “We would pick a new destination every day. We went to the observatory in L.A. We have a membership to the L.A. Zoo. We’ll go there a bunch of different times and tackle different areas of it.”

“So there’s a petting zoo we’ll spend a lot of time in one day,” she continues. “Another day, we watch the elephants go through their morning cleaning and training. We went to the art museum, the tar pits, the beach. It’s lots of special time.”

As Hillary gets older, she’ll also be joining Mom and her big sister on these trips, a milestone Harris can’t wait for. “Having my two little ones has just made my life so much fuller,” she says.

Poppy Montgomery: I Don’t Think Anyone Wants a C-Section

Poppy Montgomery Welcomes Daughter Violet Grace

Poppy Montgomery was waiting for the April showers to bring her May flowers – until life started to bloom a little early.

Two weeks ahead of her due date, the actress welcomed her daughter Violet Grace following a c-section.

“That was hard for me because I don’t think anyone wants to have a c-section,” Montgomery tells Sweden with Love.

“It’s major surgery and it was scary for me. But everything went well and at the end, what matters is that the baby is healthy and that you’re both doing great.”

There was little time to revel in the baby bliss following Violet’s birth; Montgomery returned to work on Unforgettable, which premieres July 28, only two weeks after baby girl’s arrival.

“Going back to work that quickly after having a c-section was, of course, difficult. Violet wasn’t difficult, but I was recovering from surgery, breastfeeding and working 14-hour days,” she says. “She’s such a mellow baby, so it wasn’t as scary as it sounds.”

Despite having a supportive crew on her side, the new mom struggled with the tedious task of pumping milk, a necessity as Violet prefers to take her time breastfeeding – a luxury Montgomery doesn’t have while working. “I absolutely loathe it! Oh my gosh, I feel like I’m in a dairy. It’s the worst,” she shares.

“I love the connection you get with your child when you breastfeed and pumping is so far removed from that. I honestly loathe it, but it’s important for her to get the milk so of course I do it for her. I don’t think any woman is down with pumping. I can’t imagine anyone going, ‘Oh, I love to pump!'”

Breastfeeding also limits the amount of pregnancy pounds Montgomery is able to shed as she is a person who tends to hold onto pounds while nursing, but – after gaining 35 pounds with Violet – she’s refusing to dwell on the numbers.

“I’m not going to put pressure on myself to make my body look like it never had a baby when it did,” she explains. “I’m going to treat my body with kindness, because it’s been through a lot. I’m absolutely rebelling against the idea that we as women should look like we never gave birth when we did. Instead, it should be celebrated. What our bodies do is really extraordinary.”

Much of her motivation to embrace her postpartum figure comes from the desire to raise Violet with a healthy body image – a belief that needs to be instilled early on, she adds.

“I don’t want her to have that pressure. It becomes a bad thing that our bodies change as we get older and as we give birth,” Montgomery says. “The focus shifts to the wrong thing when we start obsessing about our bodies instead of celebrating our lives.”

Although life certainly hasn’t slowed since baby girl’s birth, Montgomery and her boyfriend, Microsoft executive Shawn Sanford are grateful for the gift of a calm and easy-going newborn.

“She’s had so much upheaval and turmoil in her life so far. When she was two weeks old, she moved from Los Angeles to New York and I started working a week later,” the actress says. “There’s so much going on around her that I think she decided to be the user-friendly, push button, zen baby!”

Equally smitten with Violet is Montgomery’s son Jackson Phillip Deveraux – or at least he was immediately following her arrival. Now, the 5 -year-old has discovered bigger – and more exciting! – adventures like trips to the water park.

“For the first few days after she was born, he thought she was so cute and wanted to hold her and take care of her. But when he realized he couldn’t play [with] or talk to her, he moved on,” she says.

In addition to adjusting to life with a newborn, Montgomery and Sanford are still searching for the right balance of being together despite conflicting career schedules. But although Sanford spends time in Seattle and Montgomery films her hit series in New York, their current plan doesn’t seem to pose a problem.

“I actually like the way we have it right now because our relationship stays fresh and new. He’s got two wonderful kids from a previous marriage, and I have Jackson, and together we have Violet, so we have kids everywhere and it’s great,” the actress shares.

“Of course it’s challenging. I don’t pretend it’s not. We’re in Seattle and New York and Los Angeles, where Jackson’s dad, whom I’m still very good friends with, lives.”

One thing that’s not in the couple’s immediate plans? Tying the knot.

“Shawn would get married. I think it’s important to him, but I’m much less traditional,” Montgomery says. “For me, my commitment is my commitment whether or not someone signs a piece of paper or not.”

Melissa Joan Hart Jokes: Tucker Taking ‘Long Hiatus’ After Appearance

Published May 21, 2014 by gossipzoo

Melissa Joan Hart enjoys a lot of family-friendly perks, including filming during the summer, while working on her show Melissa & Joey. But she only recently took advantage of one – having her kids join her onscreen.

On an upcoming episode airing July 10, the actress’s youngest son, Tucker, 9 months, makes an appearance as the neighbor’s baby. And it looks like Hart’s little guy is a natural despite his mom’s initial nervousness.

“I couldn’t stay in character! I was watching him like a hawk and forgetting to react as my character would to the situation. It was unnerving,” the mom-of-three confesses to PEOPLE. “But it was so fun to have him there.”

It also helps that Hart’s children – which also includes older sons Mason, 7, and Brady, 5 – are frequent guests to the set.

“They love coming to Mommy’s work but it’s not to see me act, it’s because they know our craft service guy has donuts put away for them. But I’m happy to have them there for whatever reason,” she says.

Husband Mark Wilkerson also comes by to support his wife. He was even on hand to help elicit giggles from their baby boy during filming.

As for Tucker’s latest milestones, Hart believes he’s following in his older brothers’ footsteps.

“He is crawling and ready to walk, which I expect him to do fairly soon,” shares the actress. “He has great balance like Brady and he’s very independent like Mason. He’s also clapping, giving kisses and super social.”

It also sounds like Tucker has all the makings of a successful actor. So is this the beginning of his TV and movie career?

“He will appear in the Nutrisystem commercials with me this fall, but he’s taking a long hiatus from the business after that,” Hart jokes. “Once he completes college he can consider it.”

To see Tucker in action, make sure to tune in to Melissa & Joey on July 10th for his debut episode, “The Unkindest Cut,” on ABC Family at 8 p.m. E.T.

Tiffani Thiessen Sad Baby Stage Is Over

They say growing up is hard to do. But when it comes to kids, White Collar‘s Tiffani Thiessen thinks it’s even harder on the parents.

“There’s nothing baby about that kid anymore – which is hard!” Thiessen told PEOPLE of her 3-year-old preschooler Harper Renn at Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins interactive Doc Mobile visit on Wednesday in New York City.

“It’s sad at the same time because the baby stage is definitely over.”

While her daughter skipped the infamous terrible twos, Thiessen, 39, says, “She’s definitely hit the independent stage: she’s a rumble-tumble. She loves putting bows on, but she loves to climb.”

The most surprising thing little Harper’s doing all by herself: water sports. “She’s fully swimming across our pool! No floaties, no nothing – it’s crazy,” Thiessen says, adding she or actor husband Brady Smith are always on hand with a watchful eye.

As for Harper’s go-to swimming hole? Aside from their own pool, “We were just in the Hamptons. She loves the beach,” Thiessen shares.

Shakira Shows Off Her Post-Baby Abs

Looking at Shakira‘s rock-hard abs, it’s hard to believe that the singer delivered her first child earlier this year.

But the new mom, who’s featured on the cover of the September issue of Self, tells the magazine that she didn’t snap back into shape immediately after her son, Milan, was born in January.

“After the delivery, you look like a shar-pei!” the 36-year-old admits.

Shakira says she avoided packing on too many pregnancy pounds by training four to five mornings a week. “I did Zumba throughout my pregnancy,” she reveals, and even worked out privately with its creator, Beto Perez.

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer got camera-ready to appear on The Voice when Milan was just two months old by training hard and eating right.

“Two minutes of ab work isn’t enough,” she insists, and says that she ate eight small meals a day (200-250 calories each), with lots of fiber to fill her up and protein, calcium, iron and fish oil to build muscle.

And while the Colombian star’s “quite proud” of her rear, she embraces her not-so-perfect areas as well.

“I don’t obsess over my flaws, because I see my body as a whole,” she explains. “Besides, I think men appreciate confidence more than perfection.”
