The Simpsons Oscars Selfie

We’re sure you’ve seen the amazing selfie that Ellen DeGeneres took the night of the Academy Awards this past weekend, which included A-list audience members like Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and a handful of others. But, as it turns out, there was one other participant that didn’t make the frame.

At least, that’s what “The Simpsons” shows in a new version of the viral photo (see original below).

As if saving the world wasn’t rewarding enough, Angelina Jolie now has an Academy Award to prove it.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Thursday that the actress, who already nabbed a golden statuette in 1999 for her supporting role in Girl, Interrupted, will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award – an honorary Oscar – for her charitable work.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the recipients of four honorary awards it will give out this year at the fifth annual Governor’s Awards gala in November.

The awards will be presented Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center on Saturday, November 16.

Nicole recently enjoyed a shining moment at the 2013 Grammy Awards when she served as hubby Keith Urban‘s arm candy on the red carpet, but for the Oscar Awards (at which she served as one of the presenters) the Australian beauty stepped up her game and rocked a slinky black and gold gown by designer L’Wren Scott.

The shimmery number featured gold swirls on the train and a splash of gold on the straps, bodice, and torso.

In honor of the Oscars, the always elegant and impeccably dressed Best Supporting Actress nominee turned to the fashion world’s favorite Oscar-Oscar de la Renta, of course-and glided down the red carpet in the designer’s poufy, princess gown-esque creation, which featured a textured bodice with a sweetheart neckline and a feathery tulle skirt.

Mouawad jewels (a pair of diamond drop earrings and a twisted bracelet) completed the look.

A center-parted updo and barely there makeup provided the finishing touches.

Foot Injury Forced Kristen Stewart To Use Crutches At Oscars

Published July 7, 2013 by gossipzoo

Kristen Stewart

Sunday night Kristen Stewart suprised fans by arriving at the 85th Annual Academy Awards on crutches.

She was helped out of her limosine with the aid of the medical device before posing on the red carpet in a white and gold Reem Acra gown without them.

On Saturday she was spotted limping during rehearsals for the prestigious event.

According to People.com, she injured herself after stepping on a piece of glass. Her make-up artist told the website: “[She] cut the ball of her foot, quite severely, on glass two days ago,” adding she was in “a little bit of pain.”

Her hair stylist told Us Weekly: “We all were trying to make her feel better and her friends were trying to tell her she’d be fine, she has insecurities about being in front of people so today was even tougher.”

It must have been a rough few days for the star. On Saturday night her film “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” dominated the 2013 Golden Raspberry Awards, which “honors” the year’s worst films.

Among other awards, the vampire film was voted “Worst Picture,” and Stewart landed the “Worst Actress” accolade. She did not attend the event.

Charlize Theron Helps Oscars Security Guard After Seizure

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron came to the rescue of a security guard who suffered a seizure before the Academy Awards on Sunday, according to a report.

The Monster star was heading into the prizegiving at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater when a man working at the ceremony fell to the ground.

Editors at E! Online report Theron rushed to the security guard’s aid as another onlooker phoned a doctor.

Theron didn’t let the drama affect her appearance at the ceremony – she teamed up with Channing Tatum to perform a ballroom routine while host Seth MacFarlane sang Fred Astaire’s The Way You Look Tonight.

Speaking to E! Online later in the evening, Theron said of her performance, “(It was) completely nerve-wracking, but how could I not dance with Channing Tatum? He’s so wonderful!”

“I was sort of tricked into it. I thought it was going to be something smaller, like he (MacFarlane) pulls me up from the audience and we do a little spin. But then he was was like, ‘Rehearsals start Monday!'”

Oscars Red Carpet: Hear From George Clooney, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Quvenzhane Wallis & More

Catherine Zeta-Jones, arrives for The Oscars

For the third year in a row, Starpulse was on the red carpet and talking to all of the celebs as they strolled by in their designer couture gowns. The pace was fast and furious as stars wizzed by to get into place for their performances and presenting duties. Sometimes it was difficult to get grab them, but even if we shouted a question or two, most of them graciously answered.

Our team this year grew to three people, with the addition of our production assistant, who tweeted and added photos to the Starpulse Instagram account throughout the day.

Some of the most gracious A-listers to stop by included Nicole Kidman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and her hubby Michael Douglas, as well as George Clooney. In fact, it was Clooney who shared with us that he was ready for a cocktail before the ceremony even began.

Check out our videos of some of the stars who graced the red carpet at the 2013 Oscars:

80s Nostalgia, Pirates! & Frankenweenies: Which Film Will Win The Oscar For Best Animated Feature?

Published July 1, 2013 by gossipzoo

The Pirates! Band of Misfits

Two years after winning this Oscar for Toy Story 3, Disney’s back in the mix with not one, but two animated features amongst the five nominees in the category.

The studio will have better odds of winning — but it’s not a question of if one of their two films will win, it’s a question of which one will win.

The clear choice here is Wreck-It Ralph, the highly nostagic story of a retro, 80s-style video game bad guy who just wants to be a good guy.

There should be little competition from the two Halloween-themed films: Tim Burton’s lacking Frankenweenie and the equally ‘meh’ ParaNorman.

But watch for Aardman Animation’s The Pirates! Band of Misfits to possibly pull the upset here. The company’s Wallace and Gromit Movie Curse of the Were-Rabbit won this award in 2006, up against Burton’s Corpse Bride and Hayao Miyazaki’s (amazing) Howl’s Moving Castle (released in the U.S. by Disney).

But then again, a film featuring Al Roker as “The Pirate Who Likes Sunsets and Kittens” just can’t win.

We’re still sticking with Ralph here.

The Nominees: Best Animated Feature Film Of The Year

“Brave”
“Frankenweenie”
“ParaNorman”
“The Pirates! Band of Misfits”
“Wreck-It Ralph”

Style Watch: Worst Oscar Dresses Of All Time

Published June 28, 2013 by gossipzoo

Worst Oscar Dresses

People tune in to the Academy Awards to see who wins, but what fans really want to see is the fashion – especially when it’s bad. What are some of the worst Oscar looks from past ceremonies?

In 2009 Beyonce looked like she was wearing her grandmother’s curtains in a black and gold gown from House of Dereon. Jessica Biel wore a frumpy, unflattering Prada gown, while Amy Adams donned a bright red Carolina Herrera number that may have come from Spider-Man’s closet.

Miley Cyrus tried to dress older than her age in a silver and white Zuhair Murad gown in 2009, and in 2002 Gwyneth Paltrow wore an eye-popping transparent dress. Uma Thurman wore a white Christian Lacroix frock in 2004, taking the genie look to a whole new level.

Check out all the worst dressed looks in the video below:
