Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe Are Leaving ‘Parks and Recreation’

Published July 11, 2014 by gossipzoo

Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones are reportedly leaving 'Parks and Recreation.'

Leslie Knope will have to say some goodbyes this season as both Rashida Jones (who plays Leslie’s best friend Ann) and Rob Lowe are reportedly leaving Parks and Recreation. Jones was an original member of the cast, while Lowe joined in season two for what was supposed to be a guest role, but soon became a regular cast member. Their characters, Ann Perkins and Chris Traeger, have had an on-again/off-again relationship ever since.

The NBC show’s fifth season ended with Traeger and Perkins trying to have a baby together; their departure together hints at a happy ending for the two. Buzzfeed’s Kate Arthur, who broke the story, reports that the sixth season’s 13th episode will be both actors’ final. Arthur notes that that episode will likely air during February sweeps.

The news hasn’t been officially confirmed; NBC declined to comment on Buzzfeed’s story. Neither Jones nor Lowe has acknowledged the story.

As for the actors’ next projects, Jones and her Celeste & Jesse Forever writing partner Will McCormack have a development deal with Warner Bros. Television. Rob Lowe is currently promoting National Geographic’s Killing Kennedy, in which he plays Former President John F. Kennedy.

In happier Parks and Rec news, it has been confirmed that Lucy Lawless will be in the season six premiere. Lawless starred in several episodes last season as Diane, a love interest to Nick Offerman‘s Ron Swanson. In the final moments of the season five finale, Diane revealed that she was pregnant. Entertainment Weekly reports that Parks and Recreation producers intend to include Lawless in several episodes throughout the season, as Ron prepares to be a dad.

Parks and Rec‘s hour-long season six premiere airs on September 26 and is set partially in London. Heidi Klum and Henry Winkler will also guest star.

Kristin Chenoweth’s Musical Advice to Anthony Weiner To the Tune of Wicked’s ‘Popular’

Published May 27, 2014 by gossipzoo

If there’s anyone who knows how to revive a damaged political career, it’s probably not Kristin Chenoweth. But, hey, she did star in two seasons of The West Wing so maybe she picked up a couple tips. Anyway, Chenoweth showed up on The Tonight Show Tuesday singing a parody of the song “Popular” from Wicked which was made wildly famous by Chenoweth. The new song lampooned Snapchat enthusiast Anthony Weiner with lyrics like “I’ll teach you to zip your fly,/You won’t be that guy/With a camera down his pants” and “There’ll be no more sexy texts/With your biceps flexed/Your roaming eye will roam no more./You wanna be the Mayor? Stop actin’ like a big ol’ whore.”

Weiner shouldn’t be counting on an endorsement from Chenoweth anytime soon.

Another Day, Another ‘Parks and Recreation’ Casting Announcement

Published November 8, 2013 by gossipzoo

The cast of Parks and Recreation.

Parks and Recreation‘s jam-packed sixth season just got even jam-packed-er (just go with it) with the announcement that comedian/screamer Billy Eichner has been cast as Donne Meagle’s doppelg nger. Eichner is set to star in an episode where our beloved gang of Pawneeans meets their alternate-universe selves. Kristen Bell and Sam Elliott have already been confirmed to guest star as Eagleton’s Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson, respectively. It’s unclear just how the Billy on the Street host will become Retta’s double, but rest assured it involves a lot of yelling.

As for who’ll play Aziz Ansari, showrunner Mike Schur isn’t saying, telling TV Line, “[i]t’s not who the actor is – it’s the concept behind it.”

Eichner, Bell and Elliott aren’t the upcoming season’s only guest stars. Heidi Klum and Henry Winkler will also be featured in the sixth season’s premiere episode.

‘The Office’ Season 9 Will Be Its Last, Confirms NBC

Published August 22, 2012 by gossipzoo

After nine seasons, Dunder Mifflin is closing its doors.

Original Office showrunner Greg Daniels – who returned to the helm for Season 9 — broke the news Tuesday that this upcoming season will be the last for the popular NBC comedy.

“This year feels like the last chance to really go out together and to make an artistic ending to the show that pays off a lot of the stuff that has mattered most to fans with the core characters,” Daniels told a group of reporters. “This will be the last season of The Office. We’re planning a very big exciting last season.”

Bob Greenblatt, the Chairman NBC Entertainment, released the following statement to Celebuzz:

The Office is a classic, award-winning television comedy and all of us at NBC couldn’t be prouder to have produced and telecast the series as it heads into its ninth season. Greg Daniels, the cast, and crew have some terrific storylines planned for the final season. Fans are in for a treat. It’s always difficult to see these kinds of shows come to an end, but we are honoring the cast’s and producers’ desire to make this the final season.”

Office star Angela Kinsey seemed to echoe Greenblatt’s sentiment, tweeting, “It is true. This is our last season. We hope to give a real end to these characters we love to play. Thx for watching.”

Daniels told reporters that he and the writers have big things in store for Jim (John Krasinski), Pam (Jenna Fischer) and the rest of the Dunder Mifflin gang — including some familiar faces.

“We’re going to Roy’s wedding,” he said. “David Wallace is running the show, the Dunder-Mifflin show. We have a lot of funny stories, we’re telling some crazy Dwight stories we’ve wanted to tell for years.” P

erhaps Dwight’s “crazy” storylines will be the perfect lead-in for the show’s anticipated spinoff, The Farm, which will center on Dwight’s life on his family’s beet farm.

However, the question on everyone’s mind is whether or not former Office star Steve Carell will reprise his role as Michael Scott.

“We would certainly wish for it,” Daniels said. “We’re not going to put so much pressure on Steve by writing something that could only work if he returned. But it would be fantastic if he returned.”

The Office kicks off its final season on Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

Jack Osbourne Doesn’t Care About NBC Decision! Says Stars Earn Stripes Will ‘Suck’!

Published August 14, 2012 by gossipzoo

Jack Osbourne may or may not have been fired from NBC’s upcoming celeb-military reality show Stars Earn Stripes because of his Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, but you know what?

Dude doesn’t care!

When asked recently about his feelings on the contentious issue, Jack expressed:

“People make decisions, I’ll just have to live it. That’s all one can really say … The bright side is the show is probably gonna suck anyway.”

And honestly, the show does kinda sound like a glorified, hardcore Celebrity Fit Club, so brava for avoiding that television stinker, Jack!

Perhaps Jack should venture OUT of the world of reality TV and try his hand at some actual acting? Or maybe he and his dad Ozzy Osbourne can work on some rocking duets?!

Sounds like a solid plan to us! Just no biting off bat-heads, ok Jack? Cool.
