Duchess Kate and Prince William's Son Share Birthday With 22 Celebs

The royal baby boy shares some pretty good company with other famous Cancers – or shall we say these celebs are actually the ones who have the honor of toasting their special day with the world’s newest (and tiniest) prince.

Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s heir to the throne was born just hours ago at 4:24 GBT July 22, while other famous faces born today are also celebrating getting one year older.

Birthday girl Selena Gomez celebrated her big 2-1 in casual style with junk food in lieu of blowing out the candles: “My cake was… Jack n the box tacos… Yes,” she wrote on Twitter.

Nickelodeon star Madison Pettis is just shy of her Sweet 16, turning 15, while newly-minted 27-year-old Pretty Little Liars hunk Keegan Allen posted what he’s doing on the “best birthday ever” – playing frisbee, of course.

Grown Ups 2 star David Spade rings in 4-9 and Lethal Weapon actor Danny Glover celebrates 67.

Legendary Jeopardy host Alex Trebek turns 73, while Eagles frontman Don Henley says hello to feting 66.

Across the Pond, 46-year-old British actor Rhys Ifans and iconic English film and stage star, Superman‘s Terence Stamp (75), will celebrate the historic occasion with their fellow countrymen.

Back in the U.S., our own version of royalty, Kennedy family matriarch, the late Rose Kennedy, would have turned 104 today.

And there are plenty more birthday guys and gals.

Prince William And Kate Middleton Name Their Son

Published October 1, 2013 by gossipzoo

Today, Kensington Palace announced the name of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Cambridge.

George Alexander Louis is the child’s name.

The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

– Clarence House (@ClarenceHouse) July 24, 2013

Louis Mountbatten was Prince Philip’s uncle, and a strong presence in Prince Charles’ life until his passing in 1979. Alexandra is one of Queen Elizabeth’s middle names, so this is a nod to Her Majesty.

Yesterday, William told members of the press that he and Catherine were “still working” on a name, even though one reporter tried to ask the Duke if “George” was in the running.

The family left Kensington Palace, with mom in the backseat making sure Prince George was safe and sound.

“Kensington Palace will not be saying where the Cambridges are heading but they turned eastwards, not westwards towards Bucklebury,” royal reporter Richard Palmer tweeted. However, others are saying that mom, dad and baby are in fact at Bucklebury Manor.

Queen Elizabeth visited her great-grandson earlier this morning, as did Prince Harry. Last night, Pippa and James Middleton were at the couple’s temporary home to greet the boy.

King George VI was the baby’s great-great grandfather, and acceded to the throne when his brother, King Edward VIII abdicated in 1936.

Prince George’s First Official Photos To Be Released This Week

Published September 12, 2013 by gossipzoo

Prince George of Cambridge (b. July 22nd) has spent his first three weeks at Granny Middleton’s home in Bucklebury, a break in tradition for an heir to the British throne. Another break will soon follow this week when Kensington Palace reveals the baby’s first official photos.

Rather than hire a photographer, the Duchess of Cambridge has opted instead to select a few photos taken by herself, Carole and Pippa Middleton, according to the Daily Mirror.

“One of the options they are looking at is releasing a couple of family photos they have taken themselves,” a royal aide told the paper.

Rather than disrupt the baby’s routine, the Duchess prefers to use her expertise as a photography enthusiast to select George’s best moments as a newborn. Back in November, Clarence House posted photos taken personally by the Duchess in Malaysia, when she and the Duke toured South East Asia.

“Kate has a great eye for pictures and wants the first official ones of George to be natural and in a relaxed environment.”

Prince William’s official portraits were taken by Lord Snowden, Princess Margaret‘s ex-husband, and released on July 29th, 1982. Mario Testino shot the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s engagement portraits in December 2010.

Kensington Palace is expected to release the photos this week.

William was at a stag do (bachelor party) this weekend in Devon, England with friends, including Guy Pelly. A witness told the Sun that the new dad took a train from London Paddington to Exeter St. David’s on Friday.

“I walked through the carriage on the way to the buffet car and spotted William with a bunch of chaps swigging beer like it was going out of fashion,” the fellow passenger recalled.

Another passenger had no idea who was in the party.

“There was an older man next to me who had no idea William was sitting just yards away,” the witness said. “He nodded towards them and said, ‘There’s a right bunch of lads in there.'”

Prince George will meet his great-grandfather, Prince Philip, in the coming weeks. The Duke of Edinburgh will join Her Majesty at Balmoral today after an engagement in Scotland. The Cambridges are due to visit the 92-year-old royal, who has been recouperating at Sandringham following stomach surgery in May.

Heathrow Airport Celebrates Will And Kate’s ‘Very Special New Arrival’

Published August 15, 2013 by gossipzoo

Today, one of the world’s busiest airports helped celebrate the arrival of the Prince of Cambridge.

A team at Heathrow handed out complimentary tees “Celebrating A Very Special New Arrival” to the first 1,000 passengers in each of its terminals, along with a gift tin including some proper British treats (Twinings Tea and Walkers shortbread biscuits. I know.)

Passengers landing back in England were gifted with the limited-edition set in arrivals. Those leaving were given the tee and tin as a parting gift, a reminder of Baby Cambridge’s birthday.

The team handing out the goods spoke over 50 languages between them, and for those homesick Yanks, American accents were available on request.

Long Live The Future Heir, as well as your t-shirt and biscuit tin.

Look Back at Kate Middleton’s Most Maternal Moments Before Motherhood

Published August 13, 2013 by gossipzoo

At long last, the Duchess of Cambridge is a mother.

After the world waiting for months with baited breath, Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed a son on Monday around 4:00 p.m. London time. Now not even a day old, the royal baby boy without a name is already destined to rule: he is third in line to the British throne, after his grandfather, Prince Charles, and father.

But, fear not United Kingdom, for your future king is in good hands. Ever since joining the monarchy with the wedding heard ’round the world, the Duchess has shown she is made for motherhood, bonding with little ones all across the globe during her official U.K. appearances, buzzed-about trip to America and Diamond Jubilee Tour..

Now that Wills’ better half has the royal baby in her bassinet, Celebuzz is looking back at some of her sweetest maternal moments – from inspiring pupils at British schools, to comforting young hospital patients and greeting giddy little ones at appearances.

‘Union Jack Man’ Terry Hutt And ASDA Supermarket Are So Ready For The Royal Birth

Published July 30, 2013 by gossipzoo

One thought nothing could top the hoopla surrounding 2011 s royal wedding (Teabags! Condoms! Happyland Play Set!), but it turns out everyone’s gone mad for Baby Cambridge.

He-who-has-stolen-my-heart Terry Hutt, a 77-year-old royalist from Cambridge, sits outside St. Mary’s Hospital in hopes of congratulating the Duke and Duchess on their new addition.

Hutt, whom Queen Elizabeth has described as “The Union Jack man” for his festively patriotic attire, arrived in head-toe-toe Britannia yesterday. He met Her Majesty twenty years ago, when he tried his luck at visiting Clarence House.

“They’re my colours and she’ll always talk to me; we’ve talked about her mum before,” Hutt told Cambridge News back in November.

The grandfather-of-three has been a royalist every since meeting King George VI and his wife, the Queen Mother during the Blitz. However, it was William and Harry’s late mother that Hutt admires the most.

“Diana was one of my favourite members of the royal family,” Hutt, who held a vigil for Catherine outside King Edward VII hospital in December, told the paper. “She brought a difference to them, she modernised them and she had time for everyone.”

Don’t me cry, Mr. Hutt.

Meanwhile, up in Wales…

Asda Supermarket, where the DoC has been spotted shopping for dinner on occasion, created a prime parking spot especially for the growing family.

“To celebrate the impending birth of Prince William and Kate’s baby, we decided, with the Llangefni store being their local, that we would reserve a parking space especially for them,” a spokesperson told North Wales’ Daily Post.

“Kate has been spotted in the store a few times so we wanted to make life a bit easier for her. We also wanted to do something a bit different and special to celebrate the new arrival.”

Why can’t we get this weird in America?

“It’s created a lot of excitement amongst our customers who, like us are looking forward to the birth of the royal baby.”

Too right, spokesperson. Too right.
