Following the success of Charlie Brooker’s first season of the twisted, warped and downright weird Black Mirror, it seemed almost impossible to come up with anything else that could live up to its lofty standards. Forcing the Prime Minister of England into pig-sodomy for instance isn’t something that can be easily topped, whilst the other two stories in the first mini-series were also right up there alongside some of the best TV episodes to have been broadcast in recent years. This week’s episode, White Bear, left me completely awe-struck and envious at how ingenious it was. The twist left me on the floor wondering what on earth had just hit me while the ending left me with a knot in my stomach.
Along with Channel 4′s equally-as-brilliant Utopia, we think Black Mirror is the best thing on our screens right now, and ahead of the series’ conclusion next Monday, we’d like to take the time out to explain just why we love it so.
