Another Season of ‘Arrested Development’ Could Be On the Way

Published April 30, 2014 by gossipzoo

Initially, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings called the fourth season of Arrested Development a “one-off” and that there would not be another. And while the season wasn’t exactly well reviewed it was well watched. As it turns out, Netflix does like to make money and is therefore officially “interested” in more original episodes about the Bluth family. Imagine Entertainment co-chairman Brian Grazer told Bloomberg Television: “We are in conversations with them to do another [season].”

Variety, however, tells a bit of a different story, with sources saying “that there are no active negotiations at present between Netflix and studio 20th Century Fox TV.” There is some good news, specifically that both sides “expect a renewal to come together eventually.”

The Bluth family is notoriously difficult to herd, which led to some green screen disasters in season four. Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett and Tony Hale are all currently signed on for other television shows (sorry Alia), so it could be a couple years before we can all huddle around our computer screens in the dead of night again for an early morning binge watch.

Let’s Jump The Gun And Assume Prince Harry Will Marry Cressida Bonas

Published April 30, 2014 by gossipzoo

When you wait around for something to happen, you get bored and want to talk about other things.

Since Baby Cambridge is taking its time (it totally knows the destiny that awaits it), why don’t we take a gander at the spare’s love life?

There were two blonds with Prince Harry at his friend’s June 22nd wedding. One was ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy, who served as a bridesmaid to Lady Melissa Percy. The other was Cressida Bonas, Harry’s current girlfriend whom he’s been dating on and off for about a year now.

Despite reports to the contrary, sources tell E!‘s Melanie Bromley that the two are “definitely more in love than ever.”

Cressida, 24, whose older sister married Sam Branson back in March, was introduced to Harry through his cousin, Princess Eugenie.

“I would not be surprised if she’s the one he marries,” the source added of Bonas and Harry. “They are very affectionate with one another when they are with their friends. They kiss and cuddle and just seem head over heels for one another.

“They both have the same sense of fun and adventure. They’re on the same wavelength. They are so compatible.”

Davy, who is originally from Zimbabwe, ended things with Harry partly because she wasn’t into being a princess (WTF). “It’s not a life for me,” Davy once said.

Cressida, on the other hand, comes from a very colorful family and knows the hardships that come with the territory. Her mother is Lady Mary-Gaye Georgiana Lorna Curzon, who was a 60s IT girl and has been married a few times.

“Cressida is really smart, very naturally pretty and just a really cool girl to hang out with,” the source stressed. “It’s hard for Harry to date as there are so many opportunities out there, but Cressida is someone he knows he can trust as she is already in his circle.”

Adam Lambert Doesn’t Want To Be An 80′s Cover Artist, So He’s Leaving His Record Label (Report)

Published April 29, 2014 by gossipzoo

Adam Lambert RCA Split

It’s been one hell of a year for Adam Lambert.

Last summer the 31-year-old became the first openly gay recording artist to debut a record at number one on the Billboard 200 Chart, sang onstage with Queen, and, just this week, it was announced that he had landed a guest starring role on the upcoming season of Glee.

Today though, the American Idol alum announced a plan to walk away from his record label and it’s all because of an 80 s cover album. An 80 s cover album that neither he nor his fans wanted.

In a letter sent to The Hollywood Reporter yesterday, Lambert says that although he had a great number of years working at RCA, they ultimately came to a point where their creative differences became too much to bear.

Because he’s so well spoken, you can read his entire statement below:

Thank you for your continued interest in, and support of, my musical career. After reading your article on July 8th, and seeing the very impassioned responses, I thought it would be good to write and let you know what is actually happening with my next album.

I’ve had an amazing few years working with the team at RCA; I admire all of them a great deal, and truly appreciate the energy & enthusiasm that went into making both “Trespassing” & “For Your Entertainment” successes.

That said, at this point, we are indeed having the oft-cited “creative differences” as to what my next project will be. Your article was correct, the label is “pushing for an (80 s) covers album,” and feels that this is the only kind of release they are prepared to support. While there are lots of great songs from that decade, my heart is simply not in doing a covers album.

Over the past four years, I have been truly fortunate to work with an amazing roster of producers, writers and engineers. Thanks to them, I have grown as both a songwriter and a vocalist. Artistically & professionally, I think it is essential that I continue with this evolution. I am already deep into writing new material with some very talented colleagues for a brand new album, and I can’t tell you how excited I am to share this new sound & direction. This music is where my heart is, and I believe that is what my fans want to hear. So after careful consideration, I have made the decision to respectfully part ways with RCA. My passion for the music & respect for the fans will always come first. I am excited to find a new label team who shares this vision.

Halle Berry Seems To Have Married Olivier Martinez In France

The wedding of Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez at Chateau des Conde in Vallery

Did she or didn’t she? That’s the million dollar question right now, as it seems that Halle Berry has finally married Olivier Martinez in France.

Several images taken at the Chateau des Conde in Vallery, France appear to be what most would assume is a wedding ceremony.

Halle can be seen wearing what we’re assuming is a wedding dress while she waits outside the Chateau in a white vehicle. Believe what you will, but we’re calling it now.

Berry, 46, and Martinez, 47, have been together since 2010 and are expecting their first child, a boy, in the fall.

Our congratulations go out to you both!

Six Feet Under: 3 Reasons Why It Endures

Published April 28, 2014 by gossipzoo

Six Feet Under ran on HBO from 2001-2005. It was nominated for several Emmys and is always in the conversation when discussing “the greatest television shows”.

What makes Six Feet Under stick out in ways that other shows haven’t before it, or failed to do after it, can not be over looked. Most viewers who have experienced the whole show confess to some deep personal connection. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read “Six Feet Under changed my life!” And now I’ve tried to put into words why and how Six Feet Under is able to touch so many viewers on a deep level.

Minor spoilers ahead.

3. It Was About Family And Relationships… It Was About Us

six feet under

While The Sopranos was about family and it was also about “the family”, Six Feet Under was scaled down on concept. Of course, not all of us grew up in a funeral home, but the struggle and problems the Fishers lived through were so true to life, and thus true for us when experiencing it.

Whether you’re a Nate, a Peter Pan type who doesn’t want to grow up and tries so hard to be a good guy, a David, struggling with self-acceptance, God, and coming out (you don’t have to be gay to be a David), a Claire, who is also trying to figure herself out as the youngest (by over a decade) and an artist, or a Ruth, who spent so much of her life serving others and is finally breaking free to enjoy herself, or you might be all four combined. Or you could be one of the Chenowiths, Keith, or Federico. There is someone who anyone can relate to, root for, and ultimately cry for.

Most couples think they are Ross and Rachel (Friends) or Marshall and Lilly (How I Met Your Mother), but we aren’t. Most likely we’re more like Nate and Brenda or Keith and David. Six Feet Under showed us the reality of family, relationships, and all the real baggage that comes with it. More importantly, it showed us that it’s okay. It never weaved together a folly of a Hollywood relationship to make us question or pick apart our own, if anything, it made us feel a little less dysfunctional.

It challenged us to confront the reality of ourselves and those we love, that life isn’t a picnic and there is so little time, we may as well try to enjoy ourselves.

“Well, you know, love isn’t something you feel, it’s something you do. If the person you’re with doesn’t want it, you know, do yourself a favor and save it for someone who does.” -Nate Fisher

10 Best Trailers Of 2013 So Far

Published April 28, 2014 by gossipzoo

CORRECT Now You See Me 2

Good marketing is vital for a movie to get its name out there, and good marketing means having a good trailer. Good trailers don’t necessarily imply good movies; how often do wee see trailers that were more entertaining than the movie itself?

A lot of this summer’s movies have been a bust, but their trailers sure do a good job at bringing us in to see them. Of all the trailers that a single movie may have – red band, green band, teaser, theatrical, international, on and on – and of all the movies that have been announced, we have chosen the ten trailers that we consider the best of all released so far in 2013.

Whether the movie itself is amongst the best or the busts is something we’ll leave to your opinion (though there is some hearsay thrown in for good measure)…

10. The Purge

The Purge

Though the reviews were dismal, the premise of The Purge is a political gem. The first half of the trailer suggested a brilliant kind of dystopia that has brought The Hunger Games success. Such a theme seems to strongly appeal to the youthful demographics who have prompted an apocalypse-filled summer line-up of movies. The Purge’s trailer contains elements consistent with some of the other greatest and most popular trailers of 2013, as should be expected.

Aside from the dystopian theme somewhat aligning with World War Z’s plot of chaos, The Purge’s trailer also aligns with that of Gravity by making the smart, gripping choice to begin peacefully – its visuals, audio, and even its intertitles suggestive of another genre or feel – before throwing in a jarring twist that has us sold. And, okay, I gotta admit: the masks are pretty darn cool. At the least, after seeing the theatrical trailer, you could spend the entire movie that follows trying to get those masks out of your head.

Though its movie itself apparently has been popularly deemed a different fate, The Purge’s trailer is one of the most interesting of the year by promising an interesting, complex plot in the political and potentially sci-fi realms (that it does not later deliver, but hey, selling tickets is what matters).

TNA: Why The New Main Event Mafia Has Already FAILED

Published April 27, 2014 by gossipzoo

TNA has dropped the ball so many times, I’ve lost count. The New Main Event Mafia had potential to be SPECIAL. That chance is now gone.

For starters, signing Rampage Jackson wasn’t necessarily a mistake as it appears that Bellator seems to be picking up most of the tab. TNA even did a great job of introducing him and having him face off with Kurt Angle. They were on the right track. If you’re going to have a MMA non wrestler feud with someone, there’s no one better than Kurt Angle. He can make anyone look good. There WAS money there.

Then TNA completely blew it. Having Rampage help Kurt Angle fight off The Aces and Eights was a HUGE mistake. They just flushed 3-6 months worth of money down the drain. People would’ve payed to see Angle vs Rampage. Now, not so much. Enter M.E.M.

The M.E.M. started off well, bringing back former members Sting, Angle and Samoa Joe. Then it took a turn. The M.E.M. was supposed to be a group that consisted of ONLY former World Champions. Well, Magnus isn’t a former anything. I do however understand why Dixie wanted him as part of the faction. He has the most to gain from the rub that the other guys will give him and it gives him instant credibility Magnus has potential to be a STAR. So I’m OK with it. What I’m not ok with is the newest member of the M.E.M.

Marvel’s Inhumans Are Returning!

Published April 27, 2014 by gossipzoo

Marvel’s Inhumans are set to make a comeback this December, EW’s Popwatch have confirmed.

The Inhumans, ancient superpowered beings created through alien experimentation, are a secret superhero royal family led by their king, Black Bolt, whose supersonic voice is so destructive that he never speaks. Created by Marvel legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the 1960s, the Inhumans will be brought back this December in the wake of the current Marvel Event, Infinity, by star writer Matt Fraction.

A key proponent to the Inhumans’ powers is exposure to the Terrigen Mist, a mysterious gas that activates Inhuman DNA in those who possess it, giving that person super strength, speed, long life, and other powers. At the end of Infinity, the Terrigen Mists will be released across Earth, potentially creating millions of new Inhumans in ordinary people unaware that their ancestors once belonged to the Inhuman bloodline.

Marvel Editor-in-chief Axel Alonso said:

“The effect on the Marvel Universe will be seismic. You might learn that your new self is fantastic, beautiful, filled with immense power. By the same token, you could turn around and find out that you’re nothing. You’re a blob. You have no powers. You can create a little flame out of your pinkie.”

Of the new regular comic, writer Matt Fraction said:

“Our focus characters are drawn into the palace intrigue of this shattered Inhumans Royal family. It becomes a superhero story and a mythical story, all revolving around turning the world into a world full of superheroes.”

“It’s giving us a chance to get back to a classic Marvel metaphor of alienation,” he says. “We’re telling science-fiction stories, but really it’s about race, gender, sexual equality. It’s a very relevant, pertinent metaphor.”

The Inhumans have had their own series sporadically over the years, from their first in 1975 to their latest, a mini-series from 2007, though the characters have appeared in several other Marvel comics like Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s Guardians of the Galaxy: War of Kings storyline to Fraction’s current series FF, where Black Bolt’s Queen Medusa is one of the new FF members.

For those who want to read the critically acclaimed, but currently out of print, Inhumans limited series by Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee from 2000, you’ll be able to pick up a hardcover when it’s reprinted this September.

Inhumanity by Matt Fraction will be out in December.

Pacific Rim: Why You Should See It This Weekend

Published April 26, 2014 by gossipzoo

With Guillhermo Del Toro’s epic monster movie hitting cinemas this weekend, alongside Monsters University in the UK, it’s definitely a time to celebrate movie monsters.

And while Pixar’s latest will no doubt appeal to younger fans, the reviews of Del Toro’s effects-heavy actioner, starring Idris Elba and Charlie Hunnam, suggest that it’s an incredible in-theatre experience, and one that will likely delight fans of the genre, as well as those who appreciate Del Toro’s canon of work.

As we suspected from the earliest trailers, Del Toro has created an immersive futuristic world that perfectly underpins the events of the movie, and serves an incredible and appropriate backdrop for the epic battles between monsters and machines.

The acting is impressive, the effects often astonishing, and the soundtrack is a joy. If anyone ever doubted Del Toro’s credentials to make a big budget monster movie, they can count themselves well and truly bested…

Glee Star Cory Monteith Found Dead In Hotel Room, Aged 31

Published April 26, 2014 by gossipzoo

cory monteith

BBC News reports this morning that Glee star Cory Monteith, best known for his role as Finn Hudson on the FX series Glee, has been found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver. Police say he was found dead at the Pacific Rim Hotel in the city centre on Saturday and although the cause of death is not being disclosed but foul play has been ruled out.

He had reportedly checked into rehab beforehand due to a drug related issue.

Monteith had played the Finn Hudson on the show since it began in 2009. In 2011, he won a Teen Choice award for top actor in a comedy. The show’s cast won a Screen Actors Guild award for an ensemble in a comedy the prior year. In my opinion, he was one of the best actors on the show, and he will be terribly missed. He also starred in Monte Carlo in 2011 and had a recurring role on the series Kyle XY. Whilst no details about his death have been released, an autopsy is confirmed for July 15th. In reaction to his death his publicist had this to say.

“We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.”

At the age of only 31, this news is incredibly tragic. The star was reported to be engaged to his Glee co- star Lea Michele, who also plays his girlfriend on the show. Our thoughts are with the friends and family who were all blessed to have known and worked with this young actor.
